When Emily Adams Bode founded her eponymous label, Bode (pronounced Boh-dee), she did so with the intention of expressing a sentimentality for the past through her creations. This Garden Sampler Short Sleeve Shirt is inspired by a 1920s beaded coat. The beadwork is recreated from motifs found in a 1789 sampler. Samplers have been widely used for centuries to teach and improve needlework skills, especially in early American crafts. All beading is done by hand.
